I'm a 3rd year computer science student at CIT-U, Cebu. I build things for the web and pick up new tools as I go. Right now I'm focused on getting better. One project at a time.
I'm Amiel Joshua Peñaflor, a 3rd-year BS Computer Science student at CIT-U and a DOST Scholar. I care a lot about building things that actually look and feel good — not just things that work, but things worth using.
I'm still figuring out where exactly I want to go, but I know I'm drawn to the craft of it. When I'm not coding, I'm probably reading, eating eggs, watching teardowns of laptops I can't afford yet, or ricing a Linux machine.
Always looking forward to learning something new and getting better at what I do.
Say HelloHTML, CSS, and JavaScript are my home base. I've been picking up React and TypeScript, and I care a lot about how things look and feel — clean layouts, readable code, and interfaces that actually make sense to use.
Python, Java, C++, Kotlin, and more from coursework and personal projects. I've worked with Express, Spring Boot, Django, Flask, and Laravel — comfortable picking up whatever the project needs.
Comfortable with relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL, and have worked with Firebase for real-time data. I've also explored ML with PyTorch and TensorFlow through coursework.
I daily-drive Arch Linux with Neovim and VSCode, live in the terminal, and use Git for everything. Comfortable with Docker, Figma, Postman, and Android Studio — I genuinely enjoy configuring my environment from scratch.
A fork of BetterGov built for Allen, Northern Samar — my hometown. Contributing to making local government information more accessible to the community. It's small, but it's personal.
A student-to-student buy, sell, and trade platform for CIT-U. Built with both Django and Spring Boot running as separate backend instances — a school project that pushed me deep into how backends actually work.
A gaming-aesthetic clothing brand mockup built in JavaFX. Handled product browsing, ordering, and price calculations. More interesting than it sounds — had to figure out a lot of Java GUI stuff from scratch.
A watchlist and social platform for anime fans. Had login/logout, full CRUD, MyAnimeList-like API integration, posts, comments, and even a basic live chat with AI bots. More complete than most second-year projects.
A POS system for sari-sari stores — started because my family has one and nothing out there fits the way these small stores actually work. The ideas are still there. Just waiting for the right time to come back to it.
A static fan site for a clothing brand I was into during first year. Built it just because I liked their lineup — ended up learning CSS animations, page transitions, and what it actually feels like to finish something.
